week 1 -bring an object that represents you, see eva hesse's exhibition

ethnic-robot (felt, wool, thread)

the idea of making a patch that can be attachable to some clothing, or a module that can be repeated and by folding sides of it, the original design can be changed. part of the POPUPCLOTHES project with Britta Riley.

keywords: folding, resize, transform.

week 2 - build a module.

i decided to build the simplest object, that i had been working from my past sculptures/installations.

by using magazine paper, by folding 6 square pieces you can buid from 2D to 3D a cube. basic shape, origin of the house as basic shape to live in.

keywords: portability and reshape

week 3 - think about connectivity, connections, connectors
j     l
thinking about the U shape (which was the main shape to build the cube show above, week 2), i decided to keep working on it. first step on foam board.
l;
by cutting the U shape and making them be connected by inverting their shape i realized that the space in the middle was very disturbing, and didn't add anything to the whole. the idea would be to have a foldable form the wall?/a chair?/a hanger?/a children's game?/....?

  p l

but i forgot this was about 'softness of things"...

so i started by putting some stuff inside and see what would happened...and an LED, batteries...magnets...

in the interior face of the module, an LED, motor, hopefully sound are triggered by contacting the batteries which are also contacted + and - within the 2 legs.

i think that having more of these, and maybe vary their scale can be interesrting in terms of what can be built finally. I had thought about a board with different animals (modules) that when put together can emit different sounds, for kids to learn them and rmake relations with shapes and colors/////////

week 4 - think about NETWORKS>>>>posting here!

week 5 - sustainability, alternate bateries, natural source power (body heat, breath, sun, wind...) / visualize energy, spirituality.

Britta and I decided to continue working in our POP-UP-clothes project and try to situate it in different aspects such us the one given in class. since we had been working on shapes and ways of showing and also hidding them into clothes, we had found out that using this patterns can isolate cold from the neck, for example.

Britta says that her problem is how to keep it warm. She came up with the idea of protecting it by "sculpting" a shape that could cover it totally, without allowing cold wind to come in.

This is, by using geometrical patterns, as modules (they depend one onto the other),preserving our own energy.

BUT HOW TO MAKE IT POP-UP? ---save space
K K

by putting two stripes together, we finally get to the shape we were looking for, or something that could stop the cold of getting into the neck, and also preserve the heat.

week 6 - open sources / shear / show / DYO / DIY

Britta and Carolina still togehter.

This friend relationship had crossed the boundaries of the permitted. They also went to dance the past weekend, they wanted to dance badly, not talking, DANCE. and so they did: Britta didn't have any winter clothes, so she wore layers of summer clothes and Carolina her white fox fur thrift shop coat and 2 drops of Channel's parfum...The party was hot, and they both sweated like horses, had a little bit of conversation, but moslty, DANCING----and gaming----and beer------no sex.

//////....while Carolina did nothing but resize some files, Britta did this amazing patterns, for DIY CHIN-UP COLLAR >>>>print it - cut them - wear it! >>> O - 0

We can also do it for you: go to POP-UP CLOTHES!
